Meet Dr. Thomas Mueller
A native of the Willamette Valley, Dr. Thomas C. Mueller obtained his Bachelor of Science at Willamette University. He graduated from Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) School of Dentistry with both his dental degree (Doctorate of Dental Medicine) and advanced specialty training in the Department of Periodontics.
During his three-year surgical residency at OHSU for advanced education in periodontics, Dr. Mueller focused much of his training on dental implants and implant-related surgeries. This included advanced hard- and soft-tissue augmentation procedures, such as sinus augmentation, ridge augmentation, and block grafting.
Furthermore, his training included advanced sedation, consisting of intravenous (IV) sedation, in addition to hospital-based treatment of medically compromised armed service members at the Portland Veterans Affairs Medical Center.
Although a large portion of his current practice is composed of implant-related treatment, he is passionate about periodontal plastic surgery, including aesthetic soft-tissue grafting and aesthetic crown lengthening, as well as regenerative periodontal therapies.
Dr. Mueller obtained board certification as a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology, an honor awarded to few in his profession, following rigorous practical, written, and oral examinations. Diplomate status is the highest level of distinction awarded to private practitioners in the field of periodontics.
Dr. Mueller is an active member of periodontal professional institutions, including the American Academy of Periodontology, Western Society of Periodontology, and Oregon Society of Periodontists. He stays on the cutting edge of oral and implant surgical treatment as an active member in the Academy of Osseointegration, and the International Congress of Oral Implantologists, as well as prestigious study clubs such as the Seattle Study Club and Spear Dental Study Club.
Dr. Mueller is also a member of the American Dental Society of Anesthesiology, American Dental Association, and Oregon Dental Society, and is the past president of the Southern Willamette Dental Society.
Dr. Mueller is heavily involved in dental continuing education, including lecturing regionally to dental associations, dental study clubs, hygiene study clubs, and dental students.
Although dedicated to his profession, Dr. Mueller finds time to enjoy life through outdoor activities with family and friends, including golf, skiing, and running.
